HOOD is an artist-led organisation founded by artist-parents who are navigating the dual responsibilities of creative work and care. We use the word parent intentionally — inclusive of all genders and family structures, while recognising that care work still falls disproportionately on mothers and birthing parents.

We exist because artistic careers are often precarious, underpaid, and unpredictable — conditions that become even more challenging when combined with the realities of parenting.

HOOD works to change this.
We create resources, community, and practices that enable artist-parents to work sustainably. We collaborate with institutions, funders, and cultural workers to dismantle stigma, challenge economic barriers, and embed care into the structures of artistic production.

Our aim is to make visible that supporting artist-parents strengthens the entire cultural ecosystem.
